In a recent interview, Emily Blunt disclosed that Cillian Murphy went through an extremely strict diet, consuming just one almond per day to prepare for his role in Oppenheimer. She mentioned in an interview with Extra that he had a monumental task ahead and looked very thin due to the dietary restrictions. Earlier, Cillian Murphy had shared with The New York Times in May this year that he enjoys using his body for acting and wanted to accurately portray Oppenheimer's distinctive physicality and silhouette.
This required him to shed a considerable amount of weight, and the costume and tailoring were adjusted accordingly to achieve the slim and almost emaciated look of the character, who was known for surviving on martinis and cigarettes.
