The film is inspired by real-life events and adapted from the book "The Case That Shook The Empire," authored by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. In his post, Johar wrote, “Starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan & Ananya Panday - this untitled film is releasing in cinemas on 14th March 2025. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi.”

The film aims to shed light on the shocking cover-up of the massacre that pushed Nair to confront the British Empire in a historic legal battle. Who is C Sankaran Nair?

C Sankaran Nair was a prominent Indian lawyer and politician who played a crucial role in India's freedom struggle. Following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, he resigned from his position in protest against British rule. His actions contributed to significant changes, including the repeal of martial law and press restrictions in Punjab, as well as the establishment of the Hunter Commission.
