Roshni Nadar Malhotra
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO, HCL Technologies, recently made it to the Forbes List Of 'The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women', and stands first among other Indian women. She has also been honoured with "The World's Most Innovative People Award" by The World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (WSIE), for her philanthropic work. Roshni is also the trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which focuses on education and has established some of India's top colleges and schools. She has also started a foundation, The Habitats Trust, to protect habitats and their indigenous species.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the founder of a biopharmaceutical company, Biocon. Though she is one of the richest and popular self-made business women, she says that she never planned to start a business, it all happened by accident. She also set up a cancer hospital, 'The Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre'.
Upasana Taku
When one talks about 'women in tech', Upasana Taku’s name is among the first few to pop up. Along with her husband, she co-founded MobiKwik, a virtual wallet associated as payment partners with many sellers online. She did her masters in Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University and it landed her a job in PayPal. However, she wasn't happy with the numbers she was driving for other countries, and wanted to do something for India. “Work was becoming too easy. I had worked on some high-impact projects running into hundreds of millions of dollars, but the satisfaction was not there. I wanted to come back to India and contribute to the ecosystem back home,” she was quoted as saying.
Renuka Ramnath
Renuka Ramnath has done cutting-edge work in the private sector. She has facilitated EMPEA, a non-profit organisation managing over $5 trillion in assets, five times return on its investments.
Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi
An icon for many women, Indra Nooyi is the Chairperson & CEO of Pepsi and a regular in Forbes 'Most Powerful Women'. She is the 5th head in the history of a company that generated about $66 billion in revenue. Indra Nooyi has also been honoured with the Padma Bhushan Award in 2007, the third-highest civilian honour by the Indian government, for her services to the corporate sector. She has been featured in the "100 Most Influential People In The World" list consistently for 2 years.
