Meet Nupur Agarwal, The Woman Building A New World For Visually Impaired People

Nupur Agarwal, is brand visualisation and inclusive design expert. As the creative director of Pocket Pixels, a graphic design and brand consulting firm, she strives to infuse design innovation and creativity to produce visually striking graphics. Additionally, she is also the founder of Beyond Braille, a tactile illustration picture series catering to the visually impaired community.

She has a postgraduate degree from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, she has received several awards and recognitions for her work. She has been featured in various media outlets and has been invited to speak at conferences and events about differently-abled rights and social entrepreneurship.

Her Vision

Her vision is to create a world where people with vision disabilities can live with dignity and participate fully in society. She believes that by working towards inclusivity and accessibility, we can create a more equitable and just society for all

About Beyond Braille

Beyond Braille is a unique tactile picture series designed specifically for the visually impaired community. This series comes as a breakthrough research that explores tactile pictures like never before. The tactile picture series includes a wide range of materials, books, and resources, including storybooks, manuals, menu cards, maps, greetings, collaterals, packaging, signage, calendars, and all visual media.

Beyond Braille's mission is to create a positive impact on every visually impaired person in the world by providing them with an enriching tactile reading experience. The organisation aims to promote inclusivity and accessibility for the visually impaired community in India through the development of a range of innovative products and services. These have helped to improve the lives of thousands of visually impaired people in India.

How Did She Start Beyond Braille?

She had the idea for creating an illustration picture series that would cater to the visually impaired community nine years ago. However, the journey from conceptualisation to the final prototype and testing phase was a lengthy and challenging one. It took years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to bring the Beyond Braille brand to life, and it was finally launched in March 2019. It gives me immense pride and joy to say that since then, Beyond Braille has been making a significant impact on the lives of visually impaired individuals. (International Women's Day 2023)

Achievements

Nupur Agarwal was recently awarded the Her Zindagi Editors Choice award at HerZindagi's WomenPreneur Awards 2023. She has received multiple awards and recognition, including the Women Transforming India award, an initiative by NITI Aayog and United Nations India that celebrates the achievements of women entrepreneurs in the country for the year 2019 and a noteworthy achievement of being a panellist for the India Toy Fair in 2021. She has had media coverage in reputable publications such as Times of India, Communication Arts, Pallikutam Magazine, Gujarat Samachar, Blind New World, Enabled India, Newzhook, and Dainik Bhaskar.
