Vijay Deverakonda Wore Sandals Worth Rs 199 To ‘Liger’ Trailer Launch, His Stylist Revealed Why

Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday has been the latest talk of the town. It’s no surprise that both the lead actors brought their best fashion game to the trailer launch of the movie. But do you know why Vijay Deverakonda opted for ‘chappals’ worth Rs 199 while attending the event?

The actor’s stylist, Harmann Kaur later revealed the reason behind the much-hyped movie lead made this choice. He made it clear that this wasn’t a fashion mishap but a consciously taken decision. In fact, it was a choice made by the South superstar Deverakonda himself, to try and remain close to the on-screen character that he was playing.

In a chat with pinkvilla, the stylist said, “Liger promotions have been something I was really really looking forward to. There were so many brands and designers constantly following up to construct/design looks for Vijay. I was all prepped to make it really top-notch chill, until Vijay called me one day and said, “let’s be closest to the character and keep a very underdog look.”

Harmann herself was a little unsure of this decision at first but gave in later on.

She added, “He specifically asked me for the basic chappals and initially I was a little hesitant but I also always trust Vijay’s dressing up ideas because I know he ends up making it the talk of the country."

Vijay's Mention At Koffee With Karan

Vijay Deverakonda indeed has been buzzing of late. Actors Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan also discussed their admiration for him on their episode of Koffee with Karan 7, with Sara even saying she wants to date him.

Harmann also said that she thought it was quite “brave” of him to pull this off.

The chappals were paired with simple cargo pants and a t-shirt for Vijay, while a co-attendee of the event, actor Ranveer Singh turned up in his usual OTT attire.

Slated to release on 25th August 2022, Liger has been quite the mania in recent times, with both actors repeatedly making headlines with regard to the movie.
