This year marks twenty eight long years since the release of ‘Rangeela’; and Urmila Matondkar’s sartorial game in the movie was a rage then and still continues to woo audiences and fans.
Matondkar was styled and designed for the Ram Gopal Varma directorial venture by a young Manish Malhotra who was making his debut with the production. Malhotra proved his mettle and won awards and accolades for his work in the movie.
The ‘Jaanam Samjha Karo’ actor made heads turn as she donned everyday casual outfits such as co-ord sets, skater dresses, scarves, oversized shirts, high waisted jeans, leotards, berets and beyond. These iconic fashion pieces became synonymous with Urmila’s character, ‘Mili Joshi’ to the extent that they are talked about until this day.
Urmila was dressed in every sort of oomph filled outfit of the times right from chiffon sarees to lehengas, co-ord sets, bandeau dresses, oversized shirts, high waisted denims and more.

The skater skirts and dresses which Urmila donned in the movie especially the printed white one that has become a classic. This attire was symbolic of the character’s star-in-the-making prototype.
