The theme of the recent Met Gala red carpet was ‘The Garden of Time’ this year. After the Met Gala 2024 pictures came, the world went gaga over Indian fashion entrepreneur Mona Patel’s custom-made kinetic dress by Iris van Herpen featuring moving sleeves with functional 3-D butterflies designed by Casey Curran. While her look was a piece of art, we already saw it before the gala on Uorfi Javed. Not more than a week ago, Javed strutted out in a beautiful black strapless gown featuring flying butterflies guised as floral motifs. The outfit was the result of a collaboration between Saurabh Singh Rawat from Metal Bender Studio, Sai Shinde, and Shweta Gurmeet Kaur.

The designers also shared a BTS video on their Instagram explaining the tactics and techniques that went into the making of this stunning piece. As pictures of Mona Patel walking the red carpet in her moving-butterflies outfit came out, it immediately reminded the netizens of Uorfi’s equally or even more incredible look from last week.

Impressed with Cardi B’s exorbitant black dress? Talking about the look in the Instagram caption, the brand wrote, “#metgala2024 Inspiration of this Windowsen Couture designed for @iamcardib — The theme Met Gala this year is ‘The Garden of Time.’ I associated fertile, Vast Black Soil with the theme —All kinds of beautiful flowers grow on the Vast Black Soil, rich earth used for planting Crops and flowers. A single black rose grows in this Vast Black Soil. The whole dress uses nearly 3000 meters of organza. It symbolises the vastness of the land.” while the look wasn’t obvious, it definitely held weight.

Coming to Javed slaying the Met Gala looks, she put her stylist, Shweta Gurmeet Kaur to work and she beautifully delivered on the inspiration. Last month, Uorfi wore a blue outfit similar to Cardi B’s black dress and while sharing the pictures, Shweta mentioned that it was inspired by the same brand, Windowsen.

However, this gave Uorfi’s fans a chance to further diss Hollywood for copying her style ideas for the Gala. Actually, almost a month ago for the announcement of her show ‘Follow kar lo yar,’ Uorfi wore a somewhat similar dress inspired by the brand’s recent collection and put together by Shweta Gurmeet Kaur and Saurabh Singh Rawat from Metal Bender Studio.
