The Met Gala is the one occasion that many fashion enthusiasts look up to and enjoy swooning over red-carpet statement outfits each year. Eleanor Lambert, a fashion publicist, started the Met Gala in 1948 as a fundraiser for the newly established Costume Institute to commemorate the start of its annual exhibition. The first-ever Met gala event consisted of a dinner and the tickets cost around $50 each.
