What Is GharChola Saree?

The term ‘Ghar Chola’ literally means ‘home apparel’ or ‘outfit worn at home’. Here Ghar refers to the bride's new home and Chola means her wedding ensemble. The new bride enters her marital home wearing a Gharchola on her head and shoulders and takes everyone’s blessing.

How To Tie GharChola Saree?

Gharchola saree (celeb approved banarasi saree look) is a wedding staple in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Women wear Gharchola as a Chunar draped over their heads and across their shoulders. One end of the Gharchola is pleated and tucked at the waist, on the left side while the other end is brought to her right shoulder draping the saree from the back. Most modern brides do not drape the pallu over their heads. They leave the pallu loose and let it fall over the right shoulder.
