We all own several t-shirts, out which a few we don’t wear or are simply stacked on the shelves of the cupboards. T-shirts are comfortable and stylish garments, which can be donned at any occasion if styled and accessorised correctly. While there are a few tees that we love to wear on a regular basis, there are others that don’t feel trendy enough. Have you ever wished to redesign them and give a completely different look? If yes, then we are here with extremely easy ideas that can turn your boring t-shirts into stylish pieces that you can wear on any occasion.
Things You Will Need
- Crochet lace
- Fabric Glue
- Pair of scissors
- Old T-shirt
- Measuring Tape
- Chalk
- Pins
Peplum Top
- Start by measuring your waist using a measuring tape. Take your t-shirt (use an oversized tee). Turn it over and mark the t-shirt as per the size of your waist. You want the waist to be fitted.
- Using a thread and a needle stitch the waist.
- Cut the portion of the fabric from the bottom. Precisely below the area from where you ended stitching.
- Stretch the cut portion from its neck. You will notice the piece is looking like a skirt with frills.
- To attach the skirt and the top pin both together and then stitch.
Butterfly Twist-Back Tee
- This one is the easiest one to make. All you need to do is take one of your plain t-shirts and turn it inside out.
- Using a pin to open the stitches from one side of the tee. Twist the fabric and stitch it normally using hands or sewing machine.
One Shoulder Top
- One shoulder top can never go out of fashion. You can make your own one-shoulder top by following these steps.
- Take your old tee and chalk to start marking the area you need to cut.
- Leave one-inch space on the right shoulder mark a cross.
- From neck to the cross make an arc. Using a pair of scissors cut the arc.
- Stretch the t-shirt and your one-shoulder top is ready.
Fringe T-Shirt
- Fringe t-shirts are fun to make. All you need do is take any tee and start making vertical straps.
- To avoid cutting excess fabric you can also mark the line. Once you draw the line, do not cut the fabric above the mark.
- Once you cut vertical straps at the bottom of the tee, start pulling each strap to stretch the fabric.
Crochet Sleeve T-Shirt
- Lay your old t-shirt on a plane surface. Take your crochet lace and measure the sleeves.
- Using the pair of scissors, cut the hem of the sleeves.
- Stretch the cloth a bit and apply fabric glue. Now, take the lace and carefully on the edge of the sleeves.
- Keep the lace up and fabric inside for a sleek look.
