From DIY Projects To Shoe Shapers To Fridge Shelves, Use Old Newspapers In 15 Ways

Utilise this time at home while under lockdown and use that pile of old newspapers in creative ways. Save money for so many household things. Some of the uses will also be fun for your children as fun DIY projects. 

Cleaning windows

This method for cleaning the windows is better than using a cloth as this we prevent streaks as well. To make it even more effective, try using vinegar-and-water and ditch a chemical cleaner.

Shelf Lining

You can use the pages of the newspaper for shelf lining. Be it in the cabinet, dresser, bathroom shelves or the kitchen. They are way better than store-bought shelf liners as it is super cheap and can be replaced easily without burning a hole in the pcket. 

Packing Material

Instead of bubble wraps, you can utilise old newspapers and do the padding instead. Pack your glasses in them, layer your plates in them and for extra padding just use double paper sheets. 

Papier Mache

Your kids will have a lot of fun making different objects using this craft. Nit just them even you will realise that it is a major stress buster. 

Shape Keeper

You can maintain the shape of your shoes and bags by stuffing them with crumpled newspaper balls. 

Ripen Tomatoes

If you have green tomatoes or unripe tomatoes then you can ripen them by wrapping them in sheets of old newsprint. Just layer them in a box and then cover with a lid and they will ripen eventually and evenly. 

Stain Protection

Whenever you are planning on doing some cleaning, polishing the shoes or painting, then place some newspapers around to prevent your own carpets and flooring from getting the stains. 

Car Floor Covers

Keep dirt away from your car flooring or carpet by laying down some newspapers.

Fruit, Vegetable Drawer Liner

Instead of the fancy green sheet that you see in the above picture, you can place sheets of newspaper at the bottom. These papers will absorb all the rotting and even help in keeping weird odours at bay.

Shoe & Boot Mat

You can avoid getting muddy and wet shoes inside the house by planning newspapers near the door. Whenever you are expecting guests or you are yourself coming from outside, just place the footwear on the newspaper sheets. 

Shoe Deodoriser

Make balls by crumpling the paper and fit them in your smelly shoes. Leave them overnight and then throw out the paper. This will take away the odour as well.

Gift Wrapping

Quit wasting money on fancy wrappers when you can be innovative and use newspapers to wrap. Just jazz up the gift with ribbons and jute and even flowers, decorate and it makes for a very nice wrapping. 

Cheap Rags

In order to clean your paintbrushes and removing those oil stains you can ditch those rags and wipe off on old newspapers instead. 

Storing Fruits

If you want your apples to remain good and not rotten the wrap them in old newspapers in a dry place. 

Windscreen Cover

During the winter season, you can cover your windscreens with newspaper while in the parking outside and protect them from the frost. Just lay the papers across your car windscreen.

Table Padding

Lay some newspaper under a table cloth of your dining table and give it a padding. This way it is protected from water spills and other damages as well.

Book Covers

Instead of covering your books with new papers or not covering them at all and letting the dust sit, cover them with newspapers. To tell the books apart you can use a section of the paper that gives an idea of the subject or you can add a marking to them.
