Converting Lehenga Into Palazzo Pants: Material Required

Here are the necessary materials required to repurpose the lehenga into Palazzo pants:

  • Lehenga skirt
  • Chalk
  • Scissor
  • Sewing machine/needle & thread

How To Convert Lehenga Into Palazzo Pants

Step 1: To begin, take any old lehenga skirt. It can either be printed, plain, embroidered or net depending upon your preference. Also, you can pick any colour you like. Remember, the fabric shouldn’t be worn out and faded or else the stitched palazzo pants won’t look good.

Step 2: Once you have chosen the desired lehenga skirt, fold it in half. Now take 5 safety pins and secure the open ends of the folded lehenga across its length.

Step 3: After you have secured the open ends of the lehenga with safety pins, take a scissor and start cutting the other folded end from the bottom. Remember to cut up to the length of the hip portion. You can take any pants for reference to get the measurements right.

Step 4: Now remove the safety pins and open the lehenga so the long cut appears in the centre. Take the open ends of one leg and start stitching them inwards. Repeat the same with the other leg.

Step 5: Now fold the lehenga inside out and start stitching the open ends of both legs so it takes the structure of palazzo pants. Once you are done stitching, fold the pants to their original state and try it on to check the fitting.

Tip: If you repurposed a traditional or printed lehenga into palazzo pants, pair it with a white or black top, whereas, for plain or net palazzo pants, you can pair it with any solid-coloured top.
