No matter the heat, the time of the day, or time of the year, the golden beaches of Goa are always bustling with people. While the city is defined by its golden sands, orange sunsets and blue waters, any mention of this party capitalisincomplete without its delectable food and beach shack experience. There is nothing more satisfying than sitting on the beach, eating the most delicious food, and watching the sunset over drinks with good company.

Just to ease your struggle, we bring you an edit of 4 Shacks you must visit in Goa.

Thalassa (Vagator)

Situated atop a high cliff overlooking Vagator Beach, this Greek-style Taverna is possibly the most sought after and popular spot inthe city. While tables are rarely available without prior reservation, it is worth the effort and even the wait. The white cane furniture and lively music give the shack a relaxed and laid-back vibe. If you are lucky enough, you may get the best seats in the house, right at the edge of the cliff, from where you can watch the sunset, without any obstructions. The menu offers a variety of Greek and Mediterranean dishes, along with an interesting collection of drinks to choose from. The evenings are made enjoyable with live performances of music, dance and interactive events; our personal favourite being the magic tricks performed individually at each table.

TIP: While the entire shack is extremely scenic, don't miss out on the iconic Thalassa photo spot, it’s cliched but extremely picturesque and the perfect shot for your Instagram feed.

Calamari Beach Shack (Candolim)

Located at far end of Candolim Beach, the last shack in the row, Calamari is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or an entire evening. They have open outdoor seating on the beach as well as a covered area and can accommodate large groups with ease. The evenings are particularly beautiful because of the candles lit on each table and the loud music, but the days too, are just as lively. The semi-indoor area has a small dance floor where you can often see people shaking a leg and goofing around. They offer a wide variety of seafood and the fried Calamari is a notable favourite (of course, hence the name!)

TIP: The outdoor beach seating may seem darker at first (in the evening), but it’s definitely the better option. The experience is incomplete without the feeling of the cool ocean breeze and the sand in your feet.

Britto’s (Baga)

This iconic beach shack at Baga Beach doesn't disappoint. It is right on the beach and is absolutely massive, with rows of long tables places one after the other where the entire day can be spent, digging one’s feet into the warm sand. Since it is open throughout the day, right from 8.30 am to midnight, it is the perfect place to have all 3 meals, during a long, lazy day at the beach.

The Fisherman’s Wharf

While not located on the beach itself, ‘The Fisherman’s Wharf’ lies in the heart of Panjim and is actually a renovated and refurbished Indo- Portuguese heritage home. The menu offers an interesting blend of North India, Goan, and Continental Cuisine, with a specifically vast variety of seafood. Along with a more traditional indoor seating, they have a beautiful outdoor verandah/terrace, where a local live band usually performs.
