Winter has further clamped down on the North Indian Himalayas as a series of Western Disturbances casts a blanket of fresh snow over the popular hill stations. Whether it is the ski resorts of Manali and Gulmarg or the serene and snow-covered meadows of Auli, the first week of February 2026 is proving to be the perfect winter that all travel enthusiasts have been waiting for. Whether you are making a last-minute road trip to witness the Atal Tunnel in all its snowy splendour or are headed to the spiritual peaks of Joshimath, here are the five best destinations to witness live snowfall.

5 Best Places To Catch Fresh Snowfall This Week

1. Manali and Lahaul Valley

The current hotspot for the winter season is Manali. After the heavy snowfall on February 1, the town and its outskirts in Solang Valley and Palchan are all covered in deep snow. For a more extreme experience, the Atal Tunnel offers access to Sissu in the Lahaul Valley, which is currently a snow-covered zone.

2. Gulmarg

The ‘Snow Capital of India’ is indeed living up to its name. With snowfall being reported at both levels of the Gondola, Gulmarg is a paradise for both skiers and photographers. The entire landscape is under a thick blanket of fresh snow. It’s a perfect place to experience a winter wonderland.
