Since Manali is flooding with tourists, here is a list of other hill stations you can visit to make the best of the winter season.

Recent reports have revealed that a large footfall of tourists in Manali has blocked its roads. Since Manali is among the most sought-after destinations for people in Delhi-NCR and other nearby regions, about 10,000 vehicles have entered the hill station. The police have reported that it has caused the traffic jam.

Between December 24 and 25, about 20,000 tourists entered Lahaul. Earlier, it used to remain closed for travellers. This year, it opened for wanderers and travel enthusiasts.

We suggest if you are planning New Year or holidays in Manali, you should take a look at other hill stations that witness snowfall around this time. This way, you will not be stuck in traffic and experience nature’s beauty at its best.

Auli

Auli in Uttarakhand is a skiing destination that you can visit this season to come across snow-capped mountains, trees and streets. Surrounded by oak and coniferous forests, the hill station is also a popular pilgrimage centre for Hindus.

Other places to visit here include Auli Artificial Lake, Gurso Bugyal, Joshimath, Chattrakund, Ski Resort, Chenab Lake, etc. The place is also known as the ‘Gateway of the Himalayas’, adding another reason to the list of why you should visit it.

Narkanda

Less than 100km from Shimla is Narkanda, an off-beat destination in Himachal Pradesh. It is also the beginning point of the trek to Hatu Peak. If you are healthy and an adventure buff, you can spend your holidays here instead of in Manali.

The hill station is surrounded by cedar, maple, and fir trees. Tourists get a mesmerising view of the mighty Himalayas and explore nearby spots, including Tani Jubbar Lake, Hatu Mata Temple, and Mahamaya Temple.

Nainital

Located in the Kumaon district of Uttarakhand, Nainital used to be a summer resort for Britishers. The hill station looks bountiful in all seasons, however, it looks best when covered with snow around this time.
