Why 'Besharam' Is Considered An Insult For Women

During an exclusive interview discussing the trailer of her upcoming movie, 'Sukhee,' Shilpa Shetty was posed with a question about how the trailer's closing words, 'bedhadak' and 'besharam,' are often seen as derogatory, but whether it's truly wrong to be uninhibited and bold. In response, Shilpa expressed that it isn't inherently wrong; it's a matter of perspective. She pointed out that society generally accepts women as being carefree, bold, and independent, but when they step into roles like motherhood, wifehood, or daughter-in-law, expectations change, and they are often expected to transform into different personas.

Shilpa emphasised and said, “I believe everyone has the right to live life on their terms and occasionally deserves a break.” She particularly highlighted the often-underestimated work and sacrifices made by housewives, which are taken for granted. She mentioned that 'Sukhee' prompts viewers to recognise these aspects. Shilpa also noted that the film can serve as an eye-opener for men, helping them understand the need for their wives to take breaks, and for women, reassuring them that taking a break is completely acceptable and should not require a second thought.

Shilpa Shetty Considers Sukhee As An Ode To All Women

During the interview, Shilpa emphasised how it's a common expectation that movie dialogues should resonate with the realities and emotions of people's lives, and these dialogues tend to garner the most enthusiastic applause from the audience. Shilpa further elaborated that there is a significant resonance between the 'Sukhee' trailer and the viewers, and for her, being a part of this film represents a heartfelt tribute to all the women across India.
