Hyun Bin

The actor from 'Crash Landing On You' fulfilled his military service in the Korean Marine Corps, earning the reputation of an 'exemplary soldier.' He actively served as a frontline fighter on Baengnyeong Island, an area of significant geopolitical sensitivity and the reported site of a 2010 armed engagement between North and South Korea. Hyun garnered significant praise and recognition from the Korean entertainment industry for opting to join one of the army's most challenging units. Gong Yoo

Gong Yoo, another revered Korean star, boasts an exemplary military background. The acclaimed actor, known for his stellar performances in 'Train to Busan' (2016), 'The Suspect' (2013), and 'Coffee Prince' (2007), served on the frontline in Cheorwon. Later, he transitioned to the public relations department and took on the role of a DJ for the army radio station, Korean Forces Network. Gong completed his military service in 2009 and returned with a remarkable career boost, delivering noteworthy performances in films like 'Finding Mr. Destiny' (2010) and 'Silenced' (2011), which earned him the Popular Star award at the 32nd Blue Dragon Awards. Kim Soo-Hyun

A prominent figure in the industry, Kim encountered a delay in his military enlistment due to a childhood heart condition. South Korean law mandates that only fit individuals can serve in the military, and initially, he was assigned to public services following heart surgery. Undeterred, Kim underwent re-examinations and eventually secured conscription at the age of 29.

Known for outstanding performances in 'It’s Okay To Not Be Okay' (2020), 'Crash Landing On You' (2019-2020), and 'My Love From Another Star' (2013-2014), the actor underwent training in a military camp in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. He later served in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, achieving the rank of Sergeant, according to Soompi. Kim's exemplary service earned him the special warrior title before his discharge.

Song Joong-ki

Renowned for his role in 'Vincenzo', Song served in Chuncheon, South Korea. Upon his discharge in May 2015, after nearly two years of service, Song was reportedly overwhelmed by the presence of enthusiastic fans and paparazzi.

Park Seo-joon

The actor from 'Itaewon Class' (2020), Park is one of the rare Korean stars who fulfilled their military service obligations before making their debut. Park commenced conscription at the age of 19, immediately after finishing high school. After completing his two-year military service, he embarked on his entertainment career with Bang Yong-guk's 2011 music video titled ‘I Remember,’ and subsequently took on significant roles in productions like ‘Kill Me Heal Me' (2015) and 'Chronicles of Evil.'
