Bigg Boss 17 contestant, Munawar Faruqui is a stand-up comedian and rapper by profession. Born on January 28th, 1992, the 31-year-old comedian is from Junagarh, Gujarat.

He is well-known for activating people's funny bones with his hilarious comedy which has been centred around political jokes in the past. He is also renowned for his controversies and going to jail for the same.

Munawar Faruqui’s Childhood

Belonging to a Muslim family, Munawar Faruqui initially was a resident of Gujarat where he lived with his family. However, after the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, his house was destroyed and the family had to unwillingly shift to Mumbai. His mother died soon after. Munawar Faruqui had a tough childhood when he started working at the age of 13 after his father got sick.

He also had a tough time as a child dealing with sexual assault by his very family members which he opened up about on Kangana Ranaut’s show ‘Lock Upp’. He revealed that he was abused from the age of 6 and it lasted for about 5 years. That incident left him in pieces. He also revealed that it was the first time he shared about that with anyone.

Munawar Faruqui has been in a committed relationship with his girlfriend Nazila Sitashi for a while. Nazila is a content creator who shifted to Pune a few years back from Oman. They are a famous couple, as she openly posts about her boyfriend Munawar.

A photo of Munawar with a woman and a child went viral during his participation on ‘Lock Upp’. netizens were questioning if he had a son and a wife. He confirmed having a wife and a son on the show. He has a son about the age of 7 and an ex-wife whom he divorced a few years back.

Munawar Faruqui is well-versed in controversies. The stand-up comedian has wound up in controversies due to his communal jokes. He went to jail in multiple states in 2021 and there were multiple FIRs under his name which stated the reason to be hurting religious sentiments.

In his shows, he was found joking and making controversial statements about Home Minister of India Amit Shah. FIRs were also filed for insulting the deities of the Hindu religion. However, he denied making such statements.
