Karan Johar Reveals Details About His Contract With SRK, Check Out What Makes It One Of A Kind

The filmmaker Karan Johar and the actor Shah Rukh Khan need no introduction and their bond doesn’t either. KJo revealed some interesting facts about their friendship that made us go ‘Aw’.

In a recent exclusive interview with Mid-Day, the filmmaker mentioned, “I don’t think he has ever asked me for money, even for a film that he has done… There is no contract!” He further added that their first meeting happened when Khan was just 15 years old. At the time, Johar was offered a role in the TV show 'Indradhanush' by the Dekh Bhai Dekh fame Aanand Mahendroo. He also revealed that the offer was made considering him being an “extra plus-size” child.

Beginning Of SRK And KJo’s Friendship

He had gone to Mahendroo’s office and he noticed SRK, back then they didn’t know each other, and saw Mahendroo talk to him. Aanand later described SRK to Karan as “The actor from ‘Fauji’”.

Time played its role and they properly met to work on the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. And since then, we all know the fairy tale of their friendship. 

Contract With SRK

Upon being asked about how much the actor charges for his participation, Johar said that he doesn’t charge a penny to which he added, “(He neither charged for) Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) nor for Brahmastra (2022), for which he shot for 14 days! But that is our relationship.”

He also brought up how he shows his appreciation with gifts and said, “Our contracts with Shah Rukh read: ‘It was a pleasure working with you. Thank you so much!’ That’s the contract. There is no contract!”

While he talked about Shah Rukh Khan’s remunerations, he also revealed his part in the friendship. He then shared how he helped Khan out during the shooting of Ra One. “Anubhav Sinha was doing a big action sequence. And he needed simple patchwork kind of scenes shot. I flew from Mumbai and did it. These are not big deals.”, he added.
