Born on July 10, 1979, Gong Yoo completed his schooling at Dongin High School and then graduated from Kyung Hee University's Department of Theater and Film with a BA degree in theatre.

After completing his studies, Gong Yoo began his career as a video jockey on Mnet. He made his debut as an actor in the year 2011 with a TV series called School 4. Following his debut, he made it to many shows and dramas where he played supporting roles.

Gong Yoo starred in multiple projects before he bagged Coffee Prince, a romantic comedy where he plays a Barista. Not just the series was loved by the audience, Gong Yoo too became an overnight star with it.
Gong Yoo's Military Enlistment
Gong Yoo got enlisted in the year 2009, the mandatory military service male citizens of South Korea have to offer between the ages of 18 and 35. He served in Cheorwon for eight months and was then transferred to the Defense media agency where he worked in the public relations department. He even hosted as a DJ at the army radio station.

Gong Yoo's Comeback
Gong Yoo made his comeback in the year 2013 with the movie The Suspect. In the same year, he was appointed as a special representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Korea. It was in the year 2016 that Gong Yoo once again rose to fame, first with his mega-successful Train To Busan and then with The Age Of Shadows. 2016 was in Gong Yoo's favour since his biggest hit to date, Guardian: The Lonely And Great God where he played the goblin released. The series was a big hit and won Gong Yoo many awards.

Gong Yoo's Personal Life

Not much is known about the 43-year-old actor's personal life. The actor hardly posts on his social media and even if he does, it mostly has pictures of his cat, his meals, and at times, his goofy, behind-the-scenes photos from the sets. Last year, he was rumoured to be dating Kim Go Eun, his co-star from the K-drama, The Guardian: The Great And Lonely God. There were earlier also rumours of him secretly married to actress Jung Yu Mi. However, the actor never commented on any of these rumours. Gong Yoo has always been tight-lipped about his personal life. Currently, there is no update on the actor's relationship status.
