BTS Boys Jimin, Jung Kook, RM and V To Join Military, BIGHIT Announces; Other Korean Artists Who Got Enlisted

The remaining members of the K-pop boy band BTS - Jimin, Jung Kook, RM and V - will be preparing for their military enlistment process soon. This announcement has been made by BIGHIT, the band’s agency. Earlier the other members had also joined this compulsory military service, named Jin, Suga, and J-Hope.

BTS Military Enlistment

On Wednesday, the agency that manages the global K-pop icon BTS (Everything About BTS), BIGHITannounced the news of the remaining band members to start their process of joining the military. BIGHITreleased an official statement to confirm the news.

The statement said, “Hello. This is BIGHIT Music. We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook have initiated the military enlistment process. The artists are preparing to fulfill their military service duties. We will inform you of further updates in the due course. We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook until they complete their military service and safely return. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists. Thank you.”

Why Will BTS Members Serve In The Military

South Korea has a mandatory rule that every healthy and abled man has to serve in the military. Even though the rule is not biased towards anyone, long-term arguments were being held about whether to make BTS members go through the same or not. However, the oldest member of the band joined the military last year and others followed soon after.

Before BTS, there were other Korean idols who had served in the military of their nation. Here are some of them.

1. Ricky

Ricky is the lead dancer of the K-pop band Teen Top. He is also an actor and singer. He served in the military between 2021 and 2022.

2. Hyun Bin

The actor who rose to fame after ‘The Crash Landing On You’, Hyun Bin served in the military between 2011 and 2012.

3. Kim Soo-hyun
