Desi girl Priyanka Chopra is the latest addition to the list of Bollywood actresses who embraced pregnancy via surrogacy. Back in 2022, the star along with her husband Nick Jonas announced the arrival of their baby girl Malti Mary through surrogacy. The internet erupted with reactions of all types, while some congratulated the couple, others attacked the actress for ‘outsourcing’ her child’s birth. From mean to degrading, there were opinions of varying degrees, once again showing the stigma surrounding surrogacy in society.

What we, as a society, still fail to understand is that being a parent doesn’t necessarily mean the mother has to carry her child for the whole nine months. For many, it's difficult or near impossible to carry a pregnancy due to various reasons including personal and health-related. No matter the extent people go on judging, some celebs like Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta and Ekta Kapoor don't seem to care! Here we’ll have a look at the list of celebs who broke stereotypes by embracing motherhood through surrogacy.
