Rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, it is known for its ability to nourish, hydrate, and revitalise the skin. If you’re looking for a natural, cost-effective way to enhance your skincare routine, rice water face wash is a simple solution. Here’s how you can create this refreshing face wash at home:
Ingredients For Rice Water Face Wash
- 1/2 cup of uncooked rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel
- 2 tablespoon face wash (your choice)
- A few drops of essential oil
How To Make Rice Water Face Wash At Home
1. Begin by thoroughly rinsing the rice to remove any dirt or impurities. Place the rice in a strainer or sieve and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This step is crucial as it ensures that the rice water used in your face wash is clean and free of contaminants.
2. Transfer the rinsed rice to a cooking pot, add 2 cups of water, and let it boil for about 20-30 minutes. This process allows the nutrients and beneficial compounds from the rice to leach into the water, creating a nutrient-rich solution.
3. After it is boiled, use a fine mesh strainer to strain the rice water into a clean bowl. The liquid you have now is your rice water, which contains vitamins such as B, C, and E, as well as antioxidants and minerals beneficial for the skin.
4. Now add in some aloe vera gel for its soothing and hydrating benefits. Then add face wash and a few drops of essential oil like lavender or tea tree oil. Mix it well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
5. Pour the rice water face wash into a clean, airtight container. An old face wash bottle or a small glass jar with a lid works well. Make sure the container is properly sterilised to prevent any contamination.
6. To use the rice water face wash, shake the container well before each use.
7. Apply a small amount to your face using your fingers or a cotton pad, gently massaging it into your skin in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. You can use this face wash once or twice daily.
