- 1/2 cup whole flaxseeds
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional)

How To Make Flaxseed Gel At Home
1. First, start by placing the 1/2 cup of whole flaxseeds in a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water to the pan and boil it on a medium heat. Let the flaxseeds simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes and stir it occasionally. As the flaxseeds cook, the water will start to thicken, becoming something gel-like. You’ll notice that the water reduces to about half its original volume as it turns into a gel.
2. So now once the water has reduced and the mixture has reached a gel-like consistency, you need to strain the gel. Use a fine strainer or cheesecloth to separate the gel from the flaxseeds. Pour the mixture through the strainer into a clean bowl, gently pressing to extract as much gel as possible.
3. While the gel is still warm, add 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil to the gel and mix. This oil is optional but adds extra moisture and nourishment to your hair.
4. Allow the gel to cool completely before applying it to your hair. Once cooled, transfer the gel into a clean container for storage. (You can store the flaxseed gel in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks.)
5. To use the flaxseed gel, you can apply it to your scalp and hair, massaging it gently. Use your fingers to distribute the gel evenly through your hair, from the roots to the tips. You leave the gel in for about 2 hours, then wash it with a mild shampoo to remove the gel.
