If there is one thing I don’t step out without, it is my kohl. Needless to say, my biggest nightmare has always been running out of stock of my kajal. I have always felt that we Indians have beautiful, wide, expressive eyes which a simple black kajal can nicely define or accentuate. Having used other kohls from Chambor, it wasn’t long before I stumbled across this kohl pencil, which I was told was darker than the retractable one I used from the same brand. Though I knew that this one wouldn’t last very long as it would need constant sharpening (as it’s a pencil), the fact that it was darker (I mean – really dark) compelled me to buy it and give it a try!
Here, I will be reviewing the Chambor Extreme Eyes Long Wear Kohl that I have been using for 5 months now.

My experience:
Chambor has always been one of my favourite brands when it comes to kohl. Talking about the Extreme Eyes Long Wear Kohl in Blackest Black, I sort of have a love-hate relationship with it, and I’ll tell you why.
The pigment is super rich and buttery and glides on like a dream. However, it is not completely smudge-proof (maybe because I have an oily skin), and cannot be applied on the upper lid without a coat of eye shadow to mattify it, unless you want to smoke it out.
I absolutely love the intense, contoured and defined look I get when it is applied on the waterline. This product is exceptionally long lasting and doesn’t come off completely even when I attempt to take it off with a make-up remover.
It is also extremely easy to blend because of its buttery creamy formula. It leaves a rich, opaque coat of black pigment as it easily glides across without having me to tug and pull it. The kohl pencil delivers about 85 to 90% opacity in the first swipe, so if you like your kohl to be really dark on your waterline, you need to go back and forth with the pencil at least twice.
The drawback is the fact that it comes in the form of a pencil which needs sharpening almost after every use. The sharp wooden edges, even when a little blunt, tend to hurt your eyes during application. And also because of the constant need to sharpen, there is a lot of product wastage. Apart from this, its buttery formula tends to break it into small lumps during application, which isn’t very pleasant always as it can get very messy.
I apply it once a day and it lasts throughout without the need for re-application.
Pros:
- Extremely dark and pigmented (jet black)
- Buttery-smooth texture and glides easily
- Single stroke is enough for a super intense look
- Extremely long lasting
- Doesn’t irritate or tear up the eye
- Perfect choice of kohl to do a smokey eye
Cons:
- Not smudge-proof
- Little on the expensive side
- Need to sharpen it frequently, which leads to a lot of product wastage
- The pencil doesn’t last for over a month
- Often breaks into small lumps during application
- Doesn’t come off easily with a make-up remover
- Does not come with a sharpener
Verdict:
Black kohl is a staple for me, and I have been applying this kohl pencil from Chambor almost everyday for the last 5 months. I love the fact that this kohl pencil is incredibly dark and is perfect for a bold, smokey and smoldering look. It is best suited for the water line and lasts really, really long for me. I would have given it a 5/5 had it been completely smudge-proof and a little less pricey, as it lasts for only a month.
This product is perfect for everyday use, but is not meant for anything beyond a regular smokey look, like a graphic or a winged liner, as it is quite difficult to get precision with its tip, along with its tendency to smudge.
Having said that, I think this is one of the darkest shades of black that Chambor has to offer in its range of kohls. This product would definitely be a re-purchase for me as I like my kohl to be remarkably dark and restrict its application to only my waterline.
