While you are advised to worship Goddess Lakshmi alongside Lord Vishnu on every Ekadashi, you should worship Shri Hari Narayan alone on the occasion of Indira Ekadashi. “According to ancient scriptures, Lord Vishnu is considered the god of ancestors and since Indira Ekadashi falls during Pitru Paksha, it is said that worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day helps your ancestors get freedom,” said astrologer Arvind.

While worshipping Lord Vishnu on the day of Indira Ekadashi, you are advised to light a sesame oil lamp and donate ghee. “It is considered auspicious to recite Pitru Sukta on the day of Indira Ekadashi. This calms the anger of the ancestors and brings their blessings,” said Tripathi Ji.
