In astrology, the time period of Pitru Paksha is considered extremely significant for the peace and salvation of your ancestors. Also, there is special significance in performing donations during this time. In this article, we will share the insights provided by Pawan Gera, astrologer, numerologist and Vastu consultant, on what you should donate during Pitru Paksha to seek the blessings of your ancestors and pray for their salvation.
“We are every bit of what our ancestors were, from genetic characteristics to Karmik debts inherited from them hence as members of the same lineage, it is our duty to offer prayers and offerings to our ancestors. When we think of our ancestors with gratitude and try to give them liberation, we are, in fact, trying to free ourselves from many Karmik debts we share with our ancestors. This is not just about clearing our Karmas for this life and after but also, about honouring those who are the reason for our existence,” said astrologer Pawan.
Donation During Pitru Paksha
Astrology expert Pawan said, “As per your devotion, you must donate clothes, raw food materials, fruits, sesame seeds, money, etc., to Brahmins and the needy. Never donate old clothes, black colour clothes, anything made up of iron, mustard oil, etc.”
He said that offering Shradh food to cows, crows, and dogs is extremely important. Therefore, you should keep one portion aside for each after the Brahmin Bhoj. “The part which is reserved during offerings for cow must be given to her only and likewise for Crow and Dog. In Hindu Dharma, we believe that everyone including animals should be given offerings by some means so that all can bless us and make our internal journey swift and smooth. As every Karma we do is for realising who we truly are and not just about achieving material success,” he added.
