Since Pitru Paksha is not considered a good time to start auspicious work, wedding items should also not be purchased during this time,” said astrologer Dwivedi.
Pandit Ji said that since the time of Pitru Paksha is dedicated to the remembrance of ancestors, engaging in festive or auspicious activities like wedding shopping should be avoided during this time as this can bring negative energies. He mentioned that the primary purpose of Pitru Paksha focuses on honouring your ancestors. “So being busy with wedding shopping during this time, which involves materialism and excitement, can distract you from these spiritual activities,” he added.
In astrology, it is believed that you should embark on new beginnings only during auspicious times. This means that the planetary positions and energies must be favourable. Astrologer Ramesh said, “Pitru Paksha is not considered ideal for starting anything new, be it shopping for a wedding, planning a new business venture or making important life decisions. This is why starting anything new during this period may not give auspicious results.”
