You Don't Need A Visa
No visa is required to enter the Maldives. This applies to all nationalities. A 30-day visa is issued on arrival. The passport should have at least 6 months validity and a return ticket from Maldives to get this visa. Maldives is usually considered an expensive destination but here you save on the visa fee at least!
No Liquor Allowed
Tourists aren't allowed to get their own liquor to the Maldives. If you have purchased any liquor from the airport then you won't be allowed to carry it. Maldives is an Islamic nation and drinking or buying alcohol on any local inhabited islands is not allowed.
You Need To Respect The Local Culture
Maldives has a 100% Islamic population and as a tourist, you need to respect their culture. You should not expose too much skin or show PDA on the local islands. Women should keep their shoulders and knees covered. Women can wear bikinis on their resort island.

Budget Accommodations Are Also Available
A lot of people have this misconception that accommodation at the Maldives is super expensive which makes the entire tour to the destination out of budget. However, if you look around, you get a lot of accommodation options in a budget. To reach your hotels, you need to take a seaplane or a shared boat or a private speed boat. You can pick your options depending on your budget.
Always Bring Cash
The local currency in Maldives is Rufiyaa but you can pay in dollars too. However, there are no banks or ATMs on many islands. Best to carry a good amount of cash with you. If you pay by card at your hotel then they may ask for commission.

Don't Expect Excellent Food
In Maldives, you won't get much to experiment with the local produce as most food is imported from other countries. You can enjoy local produce like coconuts, watermelon, papaya and banana here.
Check The Island Time
Many resorts in Maldives use 'island time' which is usually ahead of time in Male, the capital. This is done to have more daylight. So, make sure you check with your resort beforehand as your check-in or checkout time may differ.
Best Time To Visit
Weather is good in the Maldives all around the year but if you wish to enjoy every bit of your holiday to Maldives then try for the peak season - December to April.
