Travelling is one of the most fun activities to do. From going on an expensive and long family vacation to finally executing the friends group trip, exploring new places is immensely relaxing. Most people avoid going on trips solo or with their loved ones fearing it may be heavy on their pockets. However, travelling to a new city or village does not have to be as expensive as one may think.
To know more about how to plan an affordable vacation, we spoke to Sandeep Singh, Founder of Rubystone Hospitality, who helped us formulate a guide for you. Keep reading to know more.
How To Plan An Affordable Vacation
Make a Budget
The first step is to make a rough budget including all possible expenses on a trip such as “travel, lodging, food, entertainment, and any unplanned charges.” Manage in a way that can help you save money instead of spending on unnecessary expenses.
Choosing Location
After setting a budget for your trip, research the location you must visit. Depending on the distance of the holiday destination from your home and its demand, the hotel, transport, and food prices may vary. Opt for a place where you can get more value for money. “Look into affordable and offbeat travel destinations,” says Singh.
Off-Season Travelling
Wise travellers avoid the festive rush and travel during the quiet times. Prioritise travelling off-season because everything during this low-demand period costs less than usual.
Housing Choice
According to your budget, see what suits you best. Singh says, “Consider staying at vacation rentals, hostels, or camps as alternatives to traditional hotels.” This can assist you in saving a lot of money and is a great option for those on a long workcation.

Transportation
There are many travel options to reach your choice of holiday destination. As per your budget, select if you want to opt for air, rail, or road travel. Further, to commute in the local region of the location, you can walk short distances or travel via shared transport.
Travel In Groups
Travelling solo or with one special person may be fun, however, it can also be more expensive. Opt for vacationing in groups for divided expenses and multiplied fun.
