The 212 km-long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being built in four phases and will provide a smooth, direct connection between Delhi and Dehradun. The route passes through areas like Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and Mandola in Khekra, extending into Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, before finally reaching Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Toll-Free Route
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway offers a unique advantage for commuters. The first 18 km of the route, starting from Akshardham Temple and extending to Loni, will be toll-free. This provides a smooth and cost-effective start to the journey for travellers.

The Union Minister For Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, had shared a video on his Twitter handle in April 2023 that gave a sneak peek into the Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway's first phase.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Total Travel Time
One of the most exciting aspects of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is its ability to drastically reduce travel time. The journey between Delhi and Dehradun took around 6.5 hours, it will now take only 2.5 hours.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Features
i) The expressway is packed with features aimed at improving safety, sustainability, and convenience.
ii) The construction of a 12-kilometer-long elevated corridor over the Rajaji National Park. This elevated section is being built to protect wildlife, making it the second highway in India to have a wildlife protection corridor after NH-44.
iii) The entire Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project spans 212 km and has been built with an investment of Rs 12000 crore by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
iv) Designed with six lanes, the expressway also includes seven underpasses and two Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), making it easier for commuters to navigate through intersections and railway lines. A total of 54 junctions have been built, with 17 major and 37 minor, which will help ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother flows of vehicles.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to become a crucial link, benefiting both local residents and visitors.
