On this Mother’s Day, Dr Shri Krishna Kinkar Ji shares with us that, as per the well-known religious scripture Shri Krishna Charit Manas (Rasayan Mahakavya), written by Jagadguru Shri Priyadarshi Ji Maharaj, quiet maternal strength can be found in spirituality, devotion, and surrender.

How Spirituality Helps Working Mothers?

The life of a working mother often revolves around the routine of waking up, going to the office, coming home and doing chores. Between office meetings, deadlines, school homework & grocery runs, the days often blur into each other. Working mothers don’t just wear many hats; they bear an ever-present, oftentimes invisible weight. While working, they are expected to bring their best to the corporate table, and at home, they are required to be fully present for their families. The internal dialogue is unending: "Will I be passed over for the promotion?".... "Am I spending enough time with my children?"..."Am I doing enough?" Working mothers walk a tightrope between ambition and guilt, expectation and exhaustion.

In these moments, how can they find peace? The answer doesn’t lie in buying a new planner or a parenting book; sure, they’ll help you to be more structured, but real peace can be found through something timeless - spirituality.

Incorporating Spirituality In Your Daily Habits

Spirituality is integrating the practice of meditation into your daily activities, be it household chores or work. It is not about doing more or less, but about looking inwards to feel more connected to your own self and cultivating Bhakti towards the teachings of Shri Krishna.

It is said that the mind of a mother never stops. Even when she’s resting and her heart is quiet, she’s thinking of her child. But the question is, how long can one keep moving when their mind is anything but still?

Shri Krishna Charitra Manas says that even while churning butter to be sold in Mathura, Ma Yashoda’s heart was filled with devotion for her nandalaal. She had mastered the art of chintan – the art of thinking deeply about her beloved. This was her way of exemplifying bhakti and attaining inner peace through her selfless and unconditional love for Lord Krishna.

Spirituality is not rituals and renunciation. It is encouraging chintan to cultivate a positive mindset. Adding even a little bit of spiritual awareness into your day will shift things. Your mind will quiet down, your heart will feel lighter, and you’ll begin to experience peace and calm that’ll help you find balance.
