In order to empower women, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot introduced the work-from-home scheme for women in Rajasthan. The announcement came on Saturday, and it will be implemented in private firms as well as government departments.
Scheme Announcement
According to India Today, a senior government official said, “The announcement for work from home was made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during the last budget. To implement this, the state government has launched mahilawfh.rajasthan.gov.in.”
Using the Janadhar Card, applicants can register on the portal. The salary of the employee will be decided by the firm or the department in which the woman has applied.
The department or the firm that will hire 20% of women would get financial assistance from the state government.
The state government has set aside a ₹100 crore budget for the scheme. It aims to employ 20,000 women in a period of six months. Up until now, nine companies have registered, and 150 women have applied for jobs.
Purpose Of Scheme
The scheme was launched to improve the status of women in society. It will help connect directly with the mainstream development in the country and combat the rising issues of women in governance.
In June 2007, the Directorate of Women’s Empowerment was formed, and what started as a women’s welfare journey has now taken the shape of women empowerment through development.
The state government is committed to building a society that has equality at its core and is free from discrimination.
“Where women are empowered and have equal participation in all development decision-making processes,” said a statement on the website.
The purpose of the scheme is to establish the constitutional rights of women and girls and protect them from harassment. It also strives to equally distribute political, social, cultural and economic resources that reside within the society.
