Every year the 8th of March is observed as International Women’s Day and this day is celebrated all over the world. Despite the world having made unprecedented advancements, no country has achieved gender equality. According to The Global Gender Gap Report 2021, it will take another 135.6 years to achieve equality between men and women globally. The pandemic has worsened the gender gap ratio across the world with women facing job instability because of economic shocks. International Women’s Day highlights that we need to take action to bridge the gender gap.

According to the United Nations, women make up 70% of the world’s 1.3 billion people in poverty.
