Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was flying for a routine political trip today. This simple trip turned into a tragedy as the chartered plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy CM crashed near Baramati Airport in Pune district. The private plane was a small Learjet 45 jet. It took off from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, early in the morning. According to several media reports, the plane was attempting to land after almost an hour in the air.

Captain Shambhavi Pathak was the First Officer (FO), supporting Captain Sumit Kapoor in controlling Ajit Pawar’s private plane today. She was serving as a crew member for the ill-fated Learjet 45 (registration VT-SSK). It is being reported that the plane had hit trouble close to the runway, leading to a crash landing. This resulted in killing all six people on board, including Captain Pathak and Captain Kapoor.
She was a great pilot who climbed the ranks of Indian aviation through her hard work and commitment. Captain Pathak completed her secondary education from the Air Force Bal Bharati School in 2018. After completing her schooling, she moved to New Zealand to undergo professional training at the New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy. She later earned her Commercial Pilot License (CPL) under the standards of both the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZ CAA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India. Captain Pathak also pursued a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, Aviation, and Aerospace Science and Technology from the University of Mumbai.

Captain Pathak even achieved a "Frozen ATPL" (Airline Transport Pilot License). This is a significant milestone, indicating she has passed all the high-level theoretical examinations required to captain commercial airliners. Apart from flying, Sambhavi was also interested in mentoring students. She served as an Assistant Flight Instructor at the Madhya Pradesh Flying Club, holding a Flight Instructor Rating (A).
