Body shaming and age shaming are two of the most common types of trolling women face on a regular basis. From family to strangers, anyone can shame you. Here’s how you can respond to these negative comments.

In recent news, Instagram’s highly renowned fashion influencer Komal Pandey opened up about her going through lip surgeries and botox at the early age of 25. This confrontation by her took the internet by storm as an influx of negative comments, trolls and shaming took place.

In a similar case, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been hit with infinite trolling on her look at the Paris Fashion Week. She was seen in her usual glamorous looks, except what pinched the eyes of the audience is the obvious ageing of a human. She has been facing comments from people who are unhesitantly labelling her as “too old”.

In a similar fashion, from famous to ordinary, most women go through immense amounts of fat shaming, body shaming, skinny shaming, age shaming, and what not! These negative comments can result in a lot of psychological traumas apart from physical and health issues.

Here are some tips on how to respond if someone is trolling or shaming you in any way.

1. Do Not Entertain

A common thing that makes people continue shaming you for your looks and personality is if you or anyone around you entertains it. Laughing back at their so-called ‘joke’ or not taking a stand for yourself can make it continue.

2. Be Assertive In Your Response

When someone utters negative words about you in a way to makes you a subject of amusement, you must speak back. It is your duty to let the other person know that their words are hurtful and that they must stop. Speak assertively and with confidence.

3. Do Not Shame Others

You must not inflict negative comments on others if you do not want the same for you as well. Even as a response to the bully, do not shame them as that may result in something worse.
