First and foremost, Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate every woman who has a child- be it your wife or grandma or massi. Ideally, we’d all get to spend the holiday with our loved ones, looking at photo albums, and talking about our childhood. However, with the second wave of coronavirus in place, we will have to adjust, and celebrate Mother's Day virtually if you are away from your mom.
This year it’s hard to safely celebrate in person, but there are still so many fun ways to make your mom feel special and tell her how much you love her or how much she means to you. You might be far away from your home physically, but you can still stay closer than ever.
For unversed, this day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at a church in West Virginia. It was Anna, who started the initiative to make Mother's Day a recognized holiday in the United States in 1905 when her mother died.
Initially, the US government rejected the proposal, but in 1911 the government declared Mother's Day as the national holiday. This day is celebrated on different dates in different countries. While in the UK, it is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of March, Greece celebrates it on February 2, other countries including India celebrate it in May on the second Sunday of the month.
