If you believe in Vastu then these tips are crucial for the peace in your household. Wrong placement of objects, shattered pieces of decor, the direction of certain idols and paintings and even the number of decor pieces of animals at home can make a difference. Bad luck follows and can lead to unrest at home among family members. So before you shop for some decoration pieces or even mirrors at home, follow these Vastu rules to avoid any kind of negativity. If you already have them then dispose them as they might be the reasons why there have been misunderstandings and illnesses.
Devi Maha Laxmi's idol placement
It is very important how you place the idol or picture of Devi Maha Laxmi. It should never be facing outwards as it is considered as the cause for the outflow of wealth from home.
Animal statues
Refrain from keeping animal and bird statues at home, especially in the bedroom. According to Vastu, either keep a pair or nothing as it brings bad luck to the couple. A picture of a wild animal too depicts wildness of the nature of the household, which can lead to violent behaviour.
Mirror shapes & more
This is a Vastu remedy tool that has the ability to attract wealth and happiness. However, there are certain rules to their placement, shape and more. Keep these things in mind while using a mirror:
- Try not to keep a round or an oval-shaped mirror at home.
- Do not hang them anywhere near the study table that your children use as it is not very helpful in their concentration levels while studying.
- Do not keep them opposite to each other as it causes restlessness and impatience as well.
Broken idols or mirror
As per Vastu, broken mirrors and glasses or even shattered images of idols should be disposed off immediately. It is said that broken mirrors also break a soul into pieces. It also symbolises unrest among family members or someone's death.
War scenes
Ramayana and Mahabharata, both these mythological stories are very inspiring. Some wars that took place as well had a reason and a denotation, however, it is crucial that you do not place those scenes, no matter how well painted, on your walls! They are nothing but negativity exuding objects. They are as per Vastu, cause of rivalry among family members.

Taj Mahal at home
This might be amongst the wonders of the world, a heritage site declared by UNESCO but a replica, or a picture of the same should not be decorated in your home. The simple reason behind this advice is that although beautiful, it is a grave in the end, which according to Vastu symbolises death and negativity. It is indeed an epitome of love but factually it is the grave of Mumtaz Mahal.
