When it comes to self-care there is a lot of responsibility that we all are showing these days in order to keep our minds and body happy. We are indulging in skincare, healthy diets, workouts, yoga, meditation and whatnot.
However, have you ever wondered that you have been using the excuse of self-care to do certain activities that are actually toxic for you? Can’t relate? Don’t worry, in this article, we will show you five activities that you might have been wrongly indulging in, in the name of self-love and self-care.
Night Binging

Sometimes after having a tough day at work we tend to indulge in loads of junk. While we feel that we are giving ourselves a treat and our body deserves a break, we are actually only treating our taste buds and making our system overwork at night when it should actually rest. Selfcare is taking care of the needs of your inner self, eating pizza at 1 A.M. is not a need.

Too Much Tea/Coffee

We all love tea and coffee and it is time we announce it as a universal guilty pleasure(read about different types of coffee). We have all seen a million self-care videos where the person wakes up in the morning and the first thing they do is fill their system up with tea/coffee. No matter how aesthetic this may seem or how much you love these beverages, an overdose is not recommended. We know we have all had extra cups of tea/coffee and have given the excuse, “my body needs it!” No, your body certainly does not need it. In fact, these drinks can cause digestive and other issues in your body.
Sleeping Too Much
Our body needs rest and it is not healthy to cut down on sleep. Everyone needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep for a healthy mind and body. Any self-care routine definitely includes a sound sleep. However, in the name of self-care, if you are sleeping all day, you are actually inviting the same diseases that sleeping too less invites. These include heart diseases, anxiety, obesity etc. Get up lazy people, over-sleeping is not self-love!

Working Out Too Much

We all know that working out is an absolute essential for the body. It not only keeps our body healthy but our mind too(read on quarantine workout). However, if you are someone who works out excessively in the name of health and fitness you are actually paving way for your body and mind to feel more tired, constantly feel drained and will even have trouble sleeping which will, in turn, pave way for more problems.
Self Love Is Not Being Self Centered
Now if you are someone who in the name of self-love preaches narcissism, it is not a self-care trait, rather a toxic one. You will soon be so consumed by yourself that in the name of self-love you will avoid all those things in you that actually need to be worked upon. A major chunk of self-care involves acknowledging your flaws and working on them instead of sugar-coating.
