Selfies have become an integral part of our lives, especially with the rise of social media. Let us give you some expert tips to help you click stunning photos anywhere from our experts, Vriddhi Patwa, Snap Star, and Surjayan Mukherjee Photography.
Vriddhi said that a small tweak that makes a big difference is setting your exposure right. “That’s my real pro tip: set your exposure to 0.3 (just tap the plus sign!), trust me, it makes a world of difference,” she added.
Are you equally confused between bursts or live photos? Well, Patwa said that you should skip the live photos and always take bursts. They don’t auto-edit, so you get to choose the best, most real moment. It helps you capture the perfect expression in motion.
Natural light is the best friend you need when it comes to selfies. “Face a window or stand in soft sunlight for a warm, flattering glow. Indoors, use soft, diffused lighting to avoid harsh shadows,” said Surjayan.
It’s basic but often overlooked. A quick wipe of your camera lens can dramatically improve clarity and help the light hit your face just right.

Angles can make or break a photo! Surjayan said that holding your camera slightly above eye level can help. After that, try a gentle tilt to highlight your best features.
Mukherjee shared that you must always look around before you click. A clean or beautiful background, like flowers or fairy lights, can elevate the whole photo.
Instead of centring yourself, try positioning slightly off-centre in the frame. “This adds depth and makes the photo more visually appealing,” said Surjayan.
He added, “The best selfies capture real moments. A soft smile, a laugh, or a candid expression often looks more genuine than a forced pose.”
Surjayan suggests that you can use portrait mode to simulate a wide aperture, blurring the background and making your face pop. It adds a professional touch with minimal effort.
“Finally, a little editing goes a long way. Adjust brightness, contrast, or sharpness if needed, but avoid heavy filters. The goal is to enhance, not transform,” concluded Mukherjee.
