You're both usually on a high at the start of a relationship. You've found someone with whom you share a profoundly intimate, emotional, spiritual, and sexual connection. While this ecstatic experience was never supposed to stay forever, maintaining some sense of emotional closeness should be the foundation of any strong partnership. But what happens if this connectedness vanishes all of a sudden? What if it isn't quite so abrupt? What if you've both been gradually moving in the wrong direction?
When a partner in a relationship doesn't experience the intimacy they admired early in their relationship, it's called emotional separation.
You Don't Spend As Much Time Together
Our connections are hampered by life. Getting up, commuting, going to work, spending time with family, and raising children. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. It's a never-ending battle. When this happens, it may feel as if you are no longer spending time with your partner. Or at the very least, you don't feel like you're spending time together. That's why many couples go out of their way to make sure they spend quality time with each other.
They Take No Interest In Your Troubles
Both people and relationships go through hard times. It is your responsibility as a caring partner to support the other member of your team during times of distress. On a superficial levely everything might seem pretty alright. However, consider this: does your partner genuinely care about your problems? Do you have an emotional impact on them like earlier? Empathy should be one of your relationship's most important characteristics. If it isn't, it might be time to ask yourself why.

A more pressing question is: What if it's easier to talk about these delicate matters with someone who isn't in your relationship?
