It was supposed to be an ultra glam cover debut of Sara Ali Khan on Filmfare. But the Pataudi girl’s photos shot in Africa are now being trolled for being racist and bad photoshop too! While Filmfare proudly put out pictures of the Simmba actor online, Twitterati and Instagrammers slammed it for culture appropriation. While Indians are racist themselves, there are a few who are calling out the Filmfare photoshoot racist for showing a Kenyan Masai tribesman as a prop beside Sara Ali Khan. People even questioned her education and lack of common sense for agreeing to do the photoshoot in the first place. Here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Wow Filmfare. Wow.

Kya bech kha gaye? Dimaag ya imaan?
Also. A woman as aware and as well-read as Sara Ali Khan agreed to this? Disappointing. https://t.co/HElLg1ATW5
Sara Ali Khan went to Columbia, and even she could not tell filmfare that maybe her “stunner” picture is racist and appropriative? Come on, Sara, you are one of the good ones!! https://t.co/lNlaaEcnFR

Apparently Filmfare and Bollywood think they exist in a parallel plane where racist discourse simply doesn't apply to them. Especially if you're a star kid (even one that studied law and political science at Columbia)! https://t.co/X7QgzBVEAU

Um guys so we got a lot of heat for nepotism but hear me out
Sara Ali Khan - no don't applaud yet cause there's more - she appropriates culture - please stop cheering there's more - and we photoshop an actual man in the background really badly - oh wow a a huge raise https://t.co/OG6ISUEr97
Did someone actually approve this for publishing? In 2019? Shouldn’t you know better? People & cultures are not props for you to appropriate. Disgusted.

Filmfare was cancelled a long time ago, so can one double cancel it? #SaraAliKhan should know better, isn't she that rare star kid who completed her education? Or did she miss out an entire history of colonialism? Or is she just plain stupid and has hidden it well so far? https://t.co/sCs47QvoN6

They were not only trolling the presence of the tribesman but also the bad photoshopping skills which left out the shadow of the person while Sara’s shadow is clearly visible.
Not a light or photography expert but there is no shadow so I think it's photo shopped, not sure though. That's not why I think this is in bad taste. Maybe I should hold my horses, maybe Filmfare does have full blown article on ethnic groups and probably Sara Ali Khan is the prop😐

What Is Cultural Appropriation?
This happens if people of a dominant culture adopt the ideas, customs and practices of another culture in an inappropriate manner and if they do not acknowledge the source.

And It Keeps Happening Again And Again...
This is not the first time that a Bollywood celebrity has been trolled for cultural appropriation. Shradhha Kapoor wore a Native American headgear for photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s latest calendar photoshoot and she was slammed for showing their culture in an inappropriate manner.
