Priyanka Chopra To Play 'Tough Titties' Ma Sheela

Priyanka Chopra continues to wow us with her myriad roles. Even as we are waiting for her next Hollywood project Isn’t It Romantic and Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink where she will play the role of a mother, the actor dropped a bomb on the Ellen Degeneres Show. She is all set to produce and star in a movie based on the Netflix Wild Wild Country documentary where she will play the character of Ma Anand Sheela, the cult guru who was the right hand of Bhagwan Osho Rajneesh. But wait! She was also a multiple convicted attempted murderer who was said to have an acid tongue and was part of a bio-terror attack.

Who Is Ma Anand Sheela?

Now, if you are wondering who Ma Anand Sheela is and what makes her so intriguing, let us enlighten you. She was the personal secretary of Bhagwan Rajneesh, popularly known as Osho. Born in Gujarat as Sheela Ambalal Patel, she moved to US and convinced Osho to build an ashram there. When asked by a reporter about objections to the ashram’s expansion in Australia, she famously remarked – What can I say? Tough titties.

The various crimes that she was accused of and convicted for included poisoning about 750 people in Oregon to influence elections, wire-tapping, attempted murder, immigration fraud, poisoning a judge, attempting to murder a US prosecutor and setting fire to a county office. A mayor of the Rajneesh commune had also revealed that she had confessed to killing her husband. Ahem! Ma Anand Sheela was finally awarded a 20-year imprisonment by court but was released after 39 months of jail time on account of good behaviour.
