Priyanka Chopra Announces $100,000 Donation To Women During COVID-19 Crisis, Ask Fans To Nominate

While the world is facing the pandemic of the novel coronavirus, everyone including the celebrities are doing their bit to spread awareness, contain the virus and give back to society. Amid all this, Global star Priyanka Chopra is winning hearts by announcing that she will be donating $100,000 in total to women for their extraordinary work during the time of the current crisis. Taking to her social media handle, the actress released a statement wherein she mentioned the details about the contribution in brief. She also released a video, wherein she can be heard talking about her purpose towards the noble step.

“We will be donating &100,000 in total to women who are rising above everything during this crisis. If you know a woman we should highlight, share her story with us, whether she’s in the service industry, from a large business, small business owner, or first responders on the front lines. We want to commemorate her. #TogetherWomenRise,” read the statement issued by the actress on her social media handle.

Priyanka earlier had different plans regarding making donations and launching a campaign for women. However, given the time the world is facing she changed her plans. “Our worlds changed quickly, and needless to say, we couldn’t go forward with our original plans to launch this campaign. The actress also asked about the wellbeing of her fans and the followers, while talking further about her plans for the initiative. She can be heard saying, “First of all I would like to say hope you are all safe, this is a crazy time. But I want to share something with you. Over the last few months I have been working with BON V!V which is a Spiked Seltzer new campaign, which was supposed to launch in the next few weeks, But considering where in world is today it is not obviously the right time to do that. So we decided to use those resources to bring people and help they need this time. We know that we can’t solve this problem on our own but even the smallest gesture brings a big difference.”

The 37-year-old star also talked about the nomination procedure and urged everyone to stay safe during the time of global crisis. “So we will be donating $100,000 in total to women who are rising above everything on their way, because when a woman put her mind into something she has the power to heal and change the world. So, if there is a woman you know who is going to distance in this difficult time whether she is a member of the service industry, large company, small business, or someone fighting on the front line nominate her because we want to commemorate her. Her fans appreciated her for announcing the donation. A few even started nominating women on her Twitter post.
