Indian competitors are participating in 69 events across 16 sports, including archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, equestrian, golf, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and tennis. Manu Bhaker made history as the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal, joining a select group of Indian Olympic medallists that had previously included only four male shooters. Her achievement represents a notable comeback for the Indian shooting, which had previously been shut out of medals at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Bhaker's remarkable performance at the Chateauroux shooting range ended with a thrilling finale. She narrowly missed out on a higher podium finish, trailing by just 0.1 point behind silver medallist Kim Yeji of South Korea in the sixth shoot-off of Stage 2. The gold medal was claimed by another South Korean shooter, Oh Ye Jin, who set a new Olympic record.

Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured India's second medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 by clinching bronze in the 10m mixed team air pistol event on Tuesday. Having qualified for the bronze medal match, the duo triumphed over South Korea with a 16-10 victory, increasing India's shooting medal tally at these Games.
Manu had already made history on by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. Although Sarabjot, competing in the men's category, fell short of a podium finish, today's achievement has cemented Manu's legacy as the first athlete from independent India to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games. This bronze also marks India's first-ever Olympic medal in a shooting team event.
