Navya Naveli Nanda’s coming of age podcast, What The Hell Navya, has been garnering social media attention. The podcast brings together Nanda’s mother and grandmother Shweta Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. They discuss everything from finances to parenting.
Recently, on her podcast, Jaya Bachchan shared her opinion on dating and romance. The veteran actress also mentioned that she would not have a problem if her granddaughter Navya chooses to have a child without marriage. She also highlighted the importance of physical attraction in a relationship, and said that while her own generation ‘could not experiment’, the newer generation is free to do so. “There is nothing wrong with it,” she added.
Jaya Bachchan’s statements have garnered both positive and negative responses on social media. Nanda addressed her grandmother’s comments when asked if she expected the social media response to candid statements, and told NDTV that the podcast aims to create a safe space for women.
She further said that they were able to create that space and she felt comfortable and confident talking to mother and grandmother about everything – be it relationships, friendships, or more.

Nanda added that while the podcast mainly received a positive reaction, she can understand why some people object to their views.
She said that when you are putting yourself out there, whether it is a podcast or other work, all of us are on social media, so everybody is watching you. “I think that when you are putting yourself out there, you have to understand that something that you are sharing with the world, especially your opinions, people may agree or disagree.”
She thinks that the purity and motivation of the podcast remains intact as they are able to have nice, fun, and intelligent conversations.

On the podcast, Jaya Bachchan told Nanda that she is looking at relationships very clinically as there’s a lack of emotion in romance today. “I think you should marry your best friend. You should have a good friend with whom you can discuss and say, ‘Maybe I would like to have a child with you because I like you. I think you are nice, so let’s get married because that’s what society’s saying.’ I also don’t have any problem if you have a child without marriage, I really don’t have a problem.”
