Mother's Day is almost upon us. Celebrated on the second Sunday of May annually, the day was first started in the early 20th century by Anna Jarvis in the United States and celebrates motherhood and the beautiful bond between a mother and her child. From doting mothers to friendly mothers or the military-strict ones, we are surrounded by mothers of all kinds. From mothers who make us beautiful dinners to those who make us cook dinner for them, the types of mothers are varied and we love each and every one of them. On the occasion of Mother's Day, we take a look at the kinds of mothers that are out there.
The Perfectionist Mother
Overbearing, a control freak and anxious, she is a woman for whom appearance mean everything, a trait she impresses on her children as well. Sound familiar? She is like the predominant mother out there in middle class families telling the neighbourhood aunty that her son is better than the neighbours. Children of such mothers have a strong sense of commitment in relationships and impress hardwork and persistence as core character qualities.

The Unpredictable Mother
Anxious, angry, excessively emotional, she is governed by her feelings and how she raises her child is completely dependent on her mood. She often creates issues solely based on the crises in her mind and often has a volatile and emotional relationship with her children. Children born to this type of mother are excellent readers of people and can sympathize and empathize with others wonderfully well.
The Best Friend Mother
She treats her children as equal and avoids setting boundaries in relationships. She believes her life as she knows it would be over if she embraced motherhood so avoids that role. Instead, she develops a relationship akin to that of an emotional confidante with her child, sharing stories and secrets. This, in a way, leaves the child effectively motherless.
The Self-Absorbed Mother
Self-absorbed and insecure, they cannot view their children as separate individuals and tend to be self-absorbed. Their children learn from an early age that mother comes first and they are supposed to make her look good, always.
