Delhi Women Run Fearless On The Roads At Midnight To Send Across A Strong Message

Last midnight had more than 200 women running fearlessly on the streets of Delhi. This five-kilometer "Fearless Run" was organized by United Sisters Foundation in association with Delhi Police. The run was organized to send out a message that women want freedom and they will no longer be afraid to roam around the city even during midnight. It was for all women who wish to empower themselves and change the thinking of society which restricts them from moving freely after midnight.

The event was flagged off by Ajay Chaudhury, Joint Commissioner of Police and activist and acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Girls and women of different age groups took part in this midnight fearless run and sent out a clear message that they are no more fearless. Women personnel of Delhi Police were also a part of the run. Many men were seen cheering their wives and daughters during the run.

Delhi Police was in full support of the women during this run and all of us are looking forward to such support from them in the future as well. During the event, Delhi Police also shared about their safety initiatives. They talked about women helpline numbers and a new app for women called "Himmat Plus".

While speaking to a news channel, social activist Laxmi shared, "It's a very good initiative and when more women see me and all the others out on the streets at 1 AM, they too will be inspired. It's heartening to see that more and more women are becoming fearless." She added, "it would be nice to see the support from police more often". With this great initiative, we see more women becoming fearless and breaking all stereotypes in the future. The final goal is to make the city safe for every woman so that she can roam fearlessly everywhere, irrespective of the place or time and we all wish to achieve it soon!
