MARD Political Party To Honour Idea Bahus, Push For Gender Neutral Laws

Mera Adhikar Rashtriya Dal or MARD is a political party that’s pressing for laws to curb suppression of men. But wait! It’s going to reward ideal bahus too!

MARD political party main

Lamenting the absence of bodies such as National Commission for Women which look after the welfare of women, the political party Mera Adhikar Rashtriya Dal or MARD has presented its manifesto for the Lok Sabha Election 2019. In the aftermath of the #MeToo movement and even before that, there have been reports of men being falsely accused of rape, taking dowry, violence against women and the balance of justice is not always restored as the voice of reason gets drowned among the cries for women’s safety. While there is no dearth of cases where a crime is actually committed but that does not mean that a woman should also go scot-free in case she has falsely accused a man.

What MARD Wants?

  • No arrest of a husband over triple talaq
  • Data centres for collecting statistics on the exploitation of men
  • A separate ministry for men and their welfare
  • Prashasti Patra for ideal daughters-in-law
  • Day care centres for children of separated parents
  • Video conferencing facility in police stations and courts

If voted to power, the MARD party plans to give an income tax rebate to divorced men who are paying alimony and do something for the children who have to live separately from their parents in cases of marital dispute.

MARD To Honour Adarsh Bahus

MARD political party manifesto

MARD general secretary Kapil Mohan Chowdhary while releasing the manifesto for the party in Lucknow, said: "MARD will reward a Prashasti Patra or certificate of honour to the women who take good care of their in-laws, sometimes even after their husband is no more. Today, when there are rising cases of false dowry charges levelled against men, we want to encourage daughters-in-law who live peacefully in their matrimonial home." The party plans to award the certificate after due discussion with the in-laws. Kapil Mohan Chowdhary along with Abhishek Agarwal, launched the party after facing a divorce and child custody battle, to ensure that the men also get an equal share of rights in the Constitution.
