Mallika Dua And Chinna Dua: Mother-Daughter Duo Taking Social Media By Storm

Mallika Dua is India's laughter queen, a social media influencer, and an actor, her mother, Chinna Dua is Instagram's most loved saree influencer and a doctor. The mother-daughter duo is ruling social media and they have a huge fan base. HerZindagi's Megha Mamgain had a quick chat with the social media sensations and the mother-daughter talked about their bond, handling trolls on social media and a lot more. Read on.

We know Mallika Dua as the queen of comedy today but do you know her mother Chinna Dua never knew about this side of hers? She shared, "Today her friends tell me that they used to all call her to mimic teachers or whoever but I never knew this side of hers."

"Honestly speaking, it is very difficult to keep track of all the things she does. At times we get to know from someone else. Once, a friend of mine from Americal sent me a video and said these two girls are lovely and I was like excuse me, she is my daughter," she added.

Talking about sharing all her work with family, Mallika Dua said, "It is hard to send every video I do. In general, I don't have a habit of oversharing everything I do. It feels really weird to constantly promote yourself online. These days people create less and publicise more."

Chinna Dua is super active on social media during the lockdown and she is sharing interesting recipes and beautiful ethnic looks on her handle. Talking about the same, she said, "I feel blessed that I am able to do something during the lockdown. It is not just about wearing saree. It changes your mood when you dress up well. I was always into sarees, my parents used to say it is good to see a nicely dressed doctor. Then you feel like dressing up even better the next day."

We asked the mother-daughter duo to take us back to the times Mallika was growing up. Mallika said, "I used to get scolded for studies because I was not academically bright. I was clearly very smart otherwise but I could never memorise. I could not understand maths."

"Even if something happened or if we made a mistake, we used to first go to our parents and tell them. We always knew that our parents are our saviours and not the people we are scared of."

Doctor Chinna Dua also shared that as parents they never interfered when it came to the careers of their kids. They let them decide for themselves.

Even if you are a social media star, you can have time when you feel conscious about how you look. Mallika Dua shared, "I won't say I am always confident about the way I look, I take a long time to get dressed sometimes. Girls usually have this consciousness, people are always ready to comment but it is your family, your upbringing, your experiences which remind you that you are more than what you are looking like."

Mallika's mother shared that Mallika was never someone who would dress up to go to the market. She and her sister never thought about what people will think.

The world of social media is incomplete without trolling. When there are two social media stars in one family, do they get protective when trolls start to hit?

Talking about the same, Chinna Dua shared, "Honestly, I didn't receive that much of negativity on Instagram, it happens once in a while. Trolling happens, I do get upset and I tell her that don't respond to them."

Mallika Dua said, "I have gone through various phases of trolling. It has been a part of my life but I try not to pay attention to it or I don't engage too much."
